July Resolutions

I've mentioned before that I like the idea of monthly resolutions--its easier to distill monthly goals than to reach for yearly/whole life kinds of goals that we often put on our New Year's Resolutions in a vague fashion.

Anyway, my monthly resolution for July is to actually train for the August 15th Mid Summer's Night Run sponsored by Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. What I'm going to do is set up a side bar in the blog where I report my mileage/time tracking my progress toward walking the 5k. Currently, I'm working on 2 miles--trying to get 2 miles down a decent time and simply DOING two miles on the treadmill/elliptical for the next two weeks. Then I'll start to do 2 miles, 2 miles, then 3.1 miles (5k), 2 miles, 2 miles, 3.1 miles, etc. until the race.

My hope is to do the 5k in under 1 hour, which in all honesty isn't that hard of a goal, but more realistic given the time constraints. Next year I hope to be able to run a bit of the race, but let's not put the cart before the horse--I need to actually commit to two miles at least 5 times per week first.
