If you love yourself, you will surround yourself with those who love you and you will find love.

I agree with the her sentiment. As a fat person, I have always dated. I even got married. I also have a cast of thousands hooting and hollering at me in NYC.

I am not saying I have never been rejected due to weight. If I only get a 1,000 hoots in NYC, with over 8 million people walking around that means my body type is not the ideal.

Yet, I believe you only need one husband and you don't have to become a pinup girl to get him.

So if you respect yourself and have something to offer relationship. Like being a complete person without a bunch of self-esteem issues you will find true love.

Mariah Carey on Her Precious Make-Under: “I Felt Completely Rancid!”

Moviegoers may be taken aback by Mariah Carey’s decidedly glammed-down turn in the film Precious as a dowdy social worker, and the singer herself had an even stronger reaction the first time she looked in the mirror. “I felt completely rancid!” Carey told PEOPLE at the film’s premiere at the AFI Audi Film Festival. But because the novel that the movie is based on “changed my life,” she gave herself over to director Lee Daniels’ vision for the character’s un-made-up look.

I love me some Mariah Carey and I one day want to look like her glamours self. Yet, I feel sorry for her right now that she has such issues with becoming the part and looking regular. Every actress knows that the character doesn't have to be anything like you to play her. I just feel that her public self is so wrapped in the "glamour" that she can't pursue a Carey in acting.

Faceless Marketing

Anybody else bothered by this faceless marketing campaign for Precious? The movie looks intense (and I'm definitely going to go see it--you can check out the trailers HERE) but the erasure of the actress, new-comer Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe makes me feel uncomfortable. Now, the poster is beautiful in its haunting, kind of early 20th Century Expressionist way, but I can't help but think that perhaps this faceless campaign has to do with our protagonist being fat. Sympathizing with the faceless, drawn fatty verses the real life young woman? Faceless-ness, can be symbolic for all the neglected girls she represents (neglected by her mother, the father who raped her, and the school system that didn't get her the services she needs in order to learn how to read). Yet, at the same time, this film is based on a specific memoir, but a specific human being and the actress who was brave enough to take this difficult role ought to be acknowledged.
